Rubio no longer a VP candidate after admitting he'd have immigrated illegally to the US
6/19/2012 4:00 PM Matt Rock -
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) will not be vetted as a potential vice presidential candidate to join Mitt Romney's 2012 campaign. Sources inside the Romney campaign, as well as sources close to Rubio, confirmed to PTP that his recent comment that he would have immigrated illegally to the US if given the opportunity were the final coffin nail in his VP chances.
“Mitt Romney is firmly opposed to illegal immigrants coming to the United States, unless they'll be doing his cooking, cleaning, or gardening, anyway,” said one Romney campaign source. “For Rubio to say he would have come here illegally, but to also be a Senator, stands in defiance of everything Mitt Romney believes in. Illegal immigrants should be poor and powerless, not the other way around.”
“Marco is bummed about it, but life goes on,” said an anonymous source in Rubio's Senate office. “I think he's pretty torn between parties anyway. Since Obama's big immigration policy announcement, he's been struggling to find ways of denouncing Obama and sounding like a Republican should sound... you know, disagreeing with everything Obama says or does, even if you agree with him, and holding the whole country hostage until the GOP wins back the White House, because that's what a patriot `should' do.”
The Romney campaign has reportedly narrowed their list of potential VP candidates down to Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Ronald Reagan, a mannequin Romney met in a Des Moines department store, Dick Cheney, Ronald Reagan, Kelly Ayotte, Scott Walker, Chris Christie, Ronald Reagan, Bob McDonnell, Paul Ryan, or his top pick, Ronald Reagan. PTP is hearing that Ronald Reagan is also being considered for the position. - Return to Previous Page
