Newark Police offer Mayor Cory Booker a cape, ask him to help fight crime

Cory Booker of Newark, New Jersey has a pretty impressive day job, as one of America's most famous and well-respected Mayors. But the Newark Police Department is hoping Booker will start working nights, too... as a caped crusader, fighting crime and saving the city's citizens from evildoers.
Earlier this week, Mayor Booker went out of his way to help a man who'd been struck by a car, staying on the scene and assisting however he could until an ambulance arrived. In April, Booker made similar headlines when he rushed into a burning building to save a woman from certain death. And he's been pretty good at his Mayor job, too.
“It isn't often that a Mayor is willing to take such a hands-on role in helping the citizenry. We're hoping he'll accept this offer,” says Newark Police Chief Sam DeMaio. “We got him a cape, a Robin-style mask to cover his eyes, a pair of spandex tights, and underpants that he can wear on the outside. He acts like a superhero. We figured we should help him dress like one, too.”
Booker has not yet commented on the offer. There have been many reports in the past year that a man loosely fitting Booker's description has already been taking to the night as a vigilante lawman, but others stipulate that these reports might only be the hallucinated imaginations of crackheads, who make up roughly 60% of the population of Newark. - Return to Previous Page
