Romney planning trip to France to siphon Obama's international support
Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook
8/9/2012 7:05 AM Matt Rock - Next week, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney will visit France for three days in an effort to “win the hearts and minds of the French.” Romney says that he believes international support will be vital to his potential victory in November, and that after his recent gaffe-ridden visits to England, Israel, and Poland, he has “a lot of catching up to do” in showing the American people that he can truly be the leader of the free world.

Back in June, Pew conducted a poll in France that shows that 92% of respondents believed President Obama deserves to be reelected. Many analysts believe that Europeans simply don't know who Mitt Romney is, and are confident that if Europe's press spent more time discussing Romney, President Obama's European approval ratings would skyrocket considerably. However, Romney is confident that his visit to France will right the wrongs of his earlier overseas trips.

“The United States and France have a long and storied history together,” Romney explained during a campaign stop this morning. “French fries, French toast, French's Mustard, French kissing, French doors, French Stewart, Canada... we love French stuff! And in France, they love adopting American culture, and then pretending to despise everything about our country because it's chic over there. So winning over the French is critical to winning the election in November. And I know how to do it!”

Romney says that he plans on wearing a beret and a striped, white and black sleeveless t-shirt, a fake mustache, and a Jerry Lewis pin on overalls. He admits he doesn't speak French, but points out that he's “incredibly skilled at saying `huh-huh-huh' really loudly while smoking cigarettes and washing down cheese and a baguette with a huge glass of wine.” Strangely, no one from the Romney campaign has attempted to stop the former Massachusetts governor from making this trip.
