John Boehner defends “loser” comment, says the poor shouldn't aspire to be President
4/30/2012 9:59 AM Matt Rock -
House Speaker John Boehner spoke with reporters this morning, elaborating on a comment he made this weekend that “the American people do not want to vote for a loser,” and that Mitt Romney, a multi-millionaire, sets a great example for America's less-to-do.
“Taken out of context, my comments on CNN sounded like I was suggesting that the American people would only want to elect a millionaire to the White House,” Boehner explained. “I want to make this as clear as my tan lines are thick. I not only believe millionaires should hold the White House, the more zeros the better, but I also think poor people shouldn't aspire to be president. What sort of example would that set for the rest of our citizens, if a poor person were actually elected? No thanks!”
“People look up to the president. They want to be more like him. President Obama sets a terrible example for our youth, with his career as a community organizer, helping poor people succeed and directing them to big government bailouts on a personal level. It's inappropriate. We need a President like Mitt Romney, who takes pleasure out of firing people and closing factories. If Mister Burns were a real person, and not a cartoon character, he'd have my vote!”
Boehner wasn't done offering the presumptive GOP nominee praise. “Mitt Romney will be `the people's president.' And by that, I mean rich people. And that's exactly what America needs right now. A president that tells America's poor to suck a fat one, because if they don't pull themselves up by their bootstraps, they'll never inherit tremendous amounts of wealth from their fathers like Mitt Romney did, and go on to run a business that gobbles up lesser businesses for insane amounts of profit. That's the American dream, and Mitt Romney is flying around in it!” - Return to Previous Page
