Mitt Romney refusing to comment on endorsement from `The Dictator' of Wadiya
5/29/2012 8:31 PM Matt Rock -
Opponents of presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney are criticizing the former Massachusetts Governor for not distancing himself from Admiral General Hafez Aladeen, the brutal Dictator of the North African nation of Wadiya, after Aladeen, who bares a striking resemblance to English film star Sacha Baron Cohen, offered an endorsement to Romney earlier this month.
“If this is the sort of person Mitt Romney wants endorsing him, I can't imagine why anyone would want him to be the leader of the free world,” explained White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, responding to questions on the subject from the Wall Street Journal. “I won't fall into that trap of saying that he `pals around with terrorists,' but Admiral General Aladeen is one of the most brutal dictators in the world, and a known associate of some of America's greatest enemies. It certainly raises some questions.”
“Romney seems to have a hard time telling his endorsers off,” offered MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell. “We've seen it before, and we're seeing it now, with guys like Ted Nugent and Donald Trump, who make these pretty outlandish claims, or even threats of violence against President Obama, and Romney doesn't say one word about it.”
Earlier in May, Aladeen claimed that he supported “Mitchell” Romney because “he has the makings of a great dictator. He is incredibly wealthy but pays no taxes, and it's not much of a leap to go from firing people to firing squads, and from putting pets on the top of a car to putting political dissidents on top of them... he taught me how to do that.” - Return to Previous Page
