Romney campaign pushing for “boardroom English” as the national language
Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook
6/11/2012 10:35 AM Matt Rock - Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has added a new cause to their platform: English as the national language. Well, almost. The former Massachusetts Governor proposed this morning that “boardroom English,” a version of English spoken by business executives using business buzzwords/ office slang, should be set as the educational standard in American classrooms.

“Obama hasn't done enough to prepare our young people for a future in the private sector, probably because he hates money,” Mitt Romney said earlier, speaking at an early breakfast fundraiser. “He wants everyone to be teachers and policemen and firefighters. But do we really need more `community organizers?' I don't think we do. So we're going to raise the bar for education in this country. We're going to teach boardroom English in our schools, so when our children reach adulthood, they're better prepared for `real' jobs. Private sector jobs.”

“When you land your first middle class job, earning only eight or nine million dollars a year, chances are you won't speak the language of Wall Street,” Romney continued. “Words like `synergy,' `paradigm,' `diversity,' `proactive,' `organic,' `empowerment,' `sustainability,' `leverage,' `streamline,' and `fun' are vital additions to a person's vocabulary, and while they might `think' they know what those words mean, nine times out of ten, they don't have a clue. We need to fix that.”

“And then you have phrases, like `outside the box,' `break through the clutter,' `on the runway,' `win-win,' `make it pop,' 'low-hanging fruit,' `managed visibility,' `mission critical,' and `fulfillment issues,' which take a special kind of mind to really grasp. How can you make it in today's harsh business world if you don't understand the vernacular? I'll bet you Obama has never even used ANY of those words or phrases! What a socialist!”
