Nice coincidence or socialist plot? The nation remains divided over Malia Obama's birthday

President Obama's daughter, Malia, shares her birthday with the nation, but where many see this as a sweet coincidence, others view her date of birth as a socialist plot by her father to destroy the country by drawing attention away from its annual Independence Day celebrations.
"When the rest of America is celebrating our independence, the Obama family spends the day praising itself," said Michael Ojeda, of Houston Texas. "It's sickening really. I don't even think she was born that day. Everyone else I know wanted to HIS birth certificate, but I've always wanted to see HERS. I'd bet she was born in December and they just changed it to try to steal America's thunder."
Others saw an even more nefarious motive at work. "You know where he's from they don't celebrate birthdays, don't you? They just slaughter some goats for Satan like they do every other day of the week and go about their business. He watched us really closely when he was growing up -- his father knew his son would have no better vantage point to spy on the nation he hated most on the planet than from here," said Danielle Murphy. "It may not seem like much, one day, one child's birthday but every large undertaking starts with a small step. He's cracking away at the foundation of our country. Bit by bit, he's trying to take us down to the socialist hell he is from. Mark my words, he is using his family to ruin our country. It's despicable -- and I don't blame Malika or whatever her name is, but she's been indoctrinated by her father, so really, I guess I do blame her. Traitors, all of them!"
Leaders of the Republican Party did not embrace the conspiracy theories, but they didn't denounce them either. Reince Priebus' said, "We are a large and diverse country with varied ideas and beliefs. It is not our goal to hinder people's first amendment rights, nor do we want to discourage honest discourse about the important issues of the day. This is one area where our tent really is bigger than the Democrats' -- they don't tolerate any views they don't think are perfectly in line with their own."
"What part of the GOP thinks this? The crazy wing?" asked MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. "Yeah, the Democrats have a huge 'we think Mitt Romney might be a unicorn' wing... oh wait, no, they don't." - Return to Previous Page
