Obama lashes out against protesters that smashed Oakland campaign office
Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook
8/6/2012 7:05 AM Matt Rock - President Obama had harsh words this morning for a group of unruly protesters that broke the window of his campaign office in Oakland, California on Friday. Addressing the demonstrators and the nation only moments ago, the president criticized the protesters for their dangerous, violent out-lash.

“These protesters need to learn some basic respect for the property of others,” Obama stated. “They ran around Oakland breaking not just my office window, but the windows of other shops, and car windows, too. No one wants to hear your thoughts if you're going to be crude like that. You can't go out there thinking you own the city. You didn't make that. Somebody else made... uh... wait, you know what? I won't let Mitt Romney blow this quote comically out of context like he did with that last one.”

The president paused for a moment to carefully consider his words. “I have a great deal of love and admiration for all Americans. But I need to point out that if we can't work together, if we can't respect the philosophies and ideologies of our neighbors and our fellow Americans, then this country simply can't move forward. I think most Americans are sick of hearing people say `rebuilding America is pointless, let's just give up.' It's time to drop the hyperbole and the vitriol. It's time to stop screaming and start talking. And I for one will never give up, I will never believe we can't do great things and look beyond our differences to find the common threads that make our nation so great.”

Mitt Romney's campaign was quick to respond. “We can't believe the nerve of President Obama! In his speech earlier, he said `This country simply can't move forward. Rebuilding America is pointless, let's just give up.' Are these REALLY the sorts of words you'd ever want to hear coming from your Commander in Chief? We think not!”
