New Romney ad attacks Obama on roundness of Earth
8/13/2012 8:05 PM Matt Rock -
The Romney campaign opened fire on President Obama this morning with a new attack ad criticizing the administration's alleged stance that the Earth is round, rather than flat. Fact-checkers have been quick to pounce on the new ad, showing evidence that not only is the Earth actually round, but that the president has never once commented on the roundness or flatness of our planet.
The new ad was released the same day as another ad claiming that Obama removed work requirements from welfare, which has been proven repeatedly by fact-checkers and news organizations as a false claim. However, the Romney campaign maintains that while this allegation, as well as the welfare claim, are both well established as false, it doesn't particularly matter, since the right-wing base is willing to believe anything negative about President Obama, regardless of how absurd it is.
“Mitt Romney isn't saying whether the Earth is round, flat, octagonal, triangular, or any other shape. He's just asking hard-hitting questions on behalf of the American people,” said Romney Campaign Manager Matt Rhoades. “We don't need to see Governor Romney's tax returns. What we REALLY need to see is substantial proof that the Earth is actually round. Otherwise, Obama is a liar.”
Rhoades made a strong case for Romney's questions regarding the spherical nature of the Earth. “Have you ever been to outer space? I know I haven't, and I'm pretty sure Obama hasn't, either, even with all that pot he smoked as a troubled foreign-born youth. We've all seen pictures from space that show the Earth is round, but we've also all seen the `Transformers' movies. Hollywood can fake lots of things, just look at Drew Barrymore's acting! Science tells us the Earth is round, but science says a lot of things, like how it says evolution and climate change are real. We need answers, and on Mitt's first day in office, you'll get them!” - Return to Previous Page
