Obama to run for re-re-election
Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook Facebook
10/23/2011 8:00 PM Floyd Harden - Pennsylvania voters who came to a town hall meeting today to listen to President Obama talk about his jobs package were surprised to hear the President wrap up the event by announcing, “I intend to seek a third term as your President because, while I expect my second term will be even more of a flop than my first term, my third term will rock!”

The timing of the announcement was a surprise to many - coming as it does at a time when the President faces an uphill battle for a second term - but campaign spokesman Lyle Manneky says the President has good reason for getting an early start on 2016. Manneky, Communications Director for Obama 2016, told Pardon The Pundit, “President Obama has devised a brilliant re-election strategy. By announcing he will run for a third term, the President has reassured his Republican friends that he will be able continue to give in to their political blackmail during his second term because he will be putting off growing a spine until his third term, when he will keep all the promises he made when he ran for his first term. See? I told you it was brilliant!”

When PTP suggested to Mannecky that the President’s strategy might not work if Republicans believe Obama will follow through on his promise to get tough in his third term, Mannecky was quick to respond. “The President anticipated that possibility. That’s why, when he’s in Illinois tomorrow to speak to voters about why he’s running for a third term, he will announce he’s running for a fourth term, which is when he will for sure stand up to Republicans. We’ve already come up with the slogan for that campaign: ‘Obama 2020 – A Vision for the Future Worth a Fourth Look.’ We think it captures the President’s political philosophy almost as well as our 2016 slogan: ‘Obama 2016 – Help is on the Way, as Soon as We Win in 2020.”

Mannecky insisted that the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which bars a President from serving more than two terms, would not prevent the President from moving forward with his plans. “We’re on top of that one. The President intends to spearhead the effort to repeal the 22nd Amendment right after his historic victory in 2024.”
