Cain spotted in SC with Stephen Colbert's old beau days before huge primary “bump”

Former GOP primary candidate Herman Cain, who dropped out of the presidential race back in December amid a relentless slew of sexual misconduct and extramarital affair allegations, has experienced a huge surge in South Carolina's primary after Comedy Central's radical right-wing TV pundit Stephen Colbert endorsed him, asking the Colbert Nation to vote for Cain this Saturday as a “sign” to indicate whether Colbert should run or not. Cain's receiving the famed “Colbert Bump” has renewed interest in the former candidate and some analysts predict he might even poll well in the primary as a result of it.
But all of that is now in jeopardy after Cain was spotted wining and dining Colbert's ex-girlfriend, Charlene, at a restaurant in Charleston, South Carolina earlier today. Cain is set to appear with Colbert at an event tomorrow afternoon. At this hour, it remains unclear what Cain was doing with Charlene, though witnesses said that their meeting “didn't look good for Stephen [Colbert].”
“There was some hand-holding, some giggling, and they drank a whole lot,” said an anonymous waitress at the restaurant, who was serving nearby tables when Cain and Charlene arrived. “At one point, Cain turned away from her, and then turned back really slowly, with a grin on his face growing bigger and bigger the more his head turned. The whole thing took about three minutes. She was way into it.”
Charlene, who issued a restraining order against Colbert after their heated breakup, has always dodged the media to no end, to the point where no photos of her exist, and some question if she's even a real person. But in Colbert's hometown of Charleston, everyone seems to know who she is.
“Charlene comes in pretty regularly,” said the restaurant's owner, who also wished to remain anonymous. “I've known her since she was a teenager, and Colbert as well. They used to come here together. What sort of a scoundrel is this Cain guy that he takes Charlene on a date at the same establishment where Colbert used to take her, with everything Stephen is doing for him in the primary this Saturday? That guy is a total jerk. And I don't care if my saying that makes any of your PTP readers on Facebook angry. No sir!” - Return to Previous Page
