MSNBC's Ed Schultz to Undergo Sensitivity Training

After referring to conservative radio talk show host Laura Ingraham as a “right-wing slut” on his radio show last week, MSNBC host Ed Schultz has agreed to a week-long sensitivity training class as a part of his suspension by the network.
Schultz used the derogatory term after Ingraham lambasted President Obama for drinking beer in Ireland while residents of Missouri were suffering from a devastating tornado, which killed over 100 people. “As long as a puppy goes unfed or a rainbow goes unseen, no one should have any fun ever,” declared Ingraham during a rant on her radio show.
Schultz apologized for his tirade on “The Ed Show,” stating that he regretted his improper choice of words. “I used vile and inappropriate language, and I'm sorry for that. Anyone who knows me understands that I never make such nasty comments.”
When journalists asked Schultz about his comments last year concerning former vice president Dick Cheney, in which he stated that he wanted to take Cheney's heart and “rip it out and kick it around and stuff it back in him” after he suffered yet another heart attack, Schultz responded, “I said I would put it back after I was finished kicking it.”
Ingraham accepted the apology on the “Hannity” television show, but she still used the occasion to continue attacking the president. “I don't know why the president continues to cater to the Irish, a country that has been flooding our nation with cheap foreign labor since the Potato Famine. It's about time they fix their own problems.”
Sean Hannity, for his part, immediately joined his guest in criticizing Obama. “Our economy is in the tank, and people are desperate for jobs. So what does 'The Anointed One' do? He drinks Guinness, a foreign beer. Apparently, he is too good to support the American economy by drinking a classic American beer like Budweiser – no, wait...like Miller Lite – oh, crap...uh...like Coors – damn it! Geez, have we outsourced everything?”
Hannity also did not hold back on other aspects of the European trip that troubled him. “What is this business about Obama going to Ireland in order to meet some distant relative? That is just absurd. If he was really visiting relatives, wouldn't he be in Kenya right now?”
As for Schultz, MSNBC released a statement saying that the host would be reinstated after passing his sensitivity class. However, it would appear that he still has some work to do. After hearing of Ingraham's comments on “Hannity,” Schultz responded, “Laura, you ignorant slut!” - Return to Previous Page
