Ryan Gosling continues heroism streak, saves Mitt Romney from speaking gaffe

4/5/2012 10:08 AM Matt Rock - Movie star Ryan Gosling, who reportedly saved a British journalist yesterday from getting run over by a cab in New York City, continued his acts of heroism this morning after meeting Mitt Romney at a Manhattan restaurant. Romney, who started campaigning in New York today for the upcoming April 24th primaries, was taking a meeting with his campaign staff, when Gosling managed to talk him out of making yet another major speaking gaffe.

“He's one of those incredibly handsome contemporary figures who can score with any woman he wants, like John Hamm, or George Clooney, or Newt Gingrich,” explained Romney. “When a guy like that makes suggestions, you have to listen. And I'm glad he showed up when he did, because I was about to insult the peasantry again with more of my out-of-touch rich-person comments.”

According to numerous senior-level Romney campaign staffers, the candidate was sitting down for breakfast with key elements of his New York staff, discussing their strategies for winning the upcoming primary in the Empire State. Gosling, who was eating at the restaurant with a few producers for an upcoming film, overheard Romney rehearsing a speech he was planning on making, and decided to intervene.

“Romney was going to blame poor people for smelling bad, and planned on insisting that more poor and middle class Americans should rub the feet of their executive bosses, because it's a nice thing to do for someone that doesn't work as hard as them,” explained one campaign staffer. “Gosling walked over from his table and told Romney it was a bad idea, and explained how it might be offensive to people. We really dodged a bullet on that one.”
