Romney might ask Obama to be his running mate, sources claim

4/16/2012 3:15 PM Matt Rock - Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, whose campaign formally launched a VP search this past weekend, has reportedly asked his senior campaign staff to look into the possibility of President Barack Obama joining his ticket, noting that Obama plays extremely well everywhere that Romney is weak, and can switch blue voters red more easily than any of the candidates his team has otherwise looked into.

“When you really stop to think about it, President Obama would be the perfect Vice President for Mitt,” said an anonymous Romney campaign senior advisor. “He'd bring in voters that [Romney] is struggling with. Women, minorities, the gay and lesbian community, pet-lovers, moderate conservatives, moderate liberals, independents, people earning less than $50 million per year, humans that have heard Romney speak in public... you know, `voters.' And it would help Mitt get back to the center after having spent the past year or so pandering to the radical right-wing that all but cinched his nomination.”

“It isn't something we're saying `yes' to right now, but we aren't saying `no,' either,” said another senior-level source. “We want to measure Mitt Romney with several potential candidates. We're looking at everybody. Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, Sarah Palin, the ShamWow! guy... no one is off the table. It just so happens that if we intend to actually win the general election, it's starting to look like we can't do it without President Obama's name on our ticket. And it'd also take our competition out, too, so it's sort of a double-win, when you think about it.”

PTP emailed White House Press Secretary Jay Carney to ask what he thought of Mitt Romney's potential request for President Obama to join Mitt Romney as a vice presidential candidate. It took him a few hours to respond, but when he did, the email simply said “LOL” 14,296 times in a row.
