Task:
Please write an article about some fake political news story that directly or indirectly relates to a current national political event, discussion or issue. The article is to be written as if a reporter is writing about a real event or story. The style should be written in a deadpan serious style and let the ridiculousness of the fake story drive home the comedic purpose of the article. Please use real politicians or political news makers in the story – but make the actual facts of the story fake and ridiculous (although facts can be close to real events). The goal should be to make fun of real political events and news makers via a mocking and satirical medium. The tone of the fake story needs to have some basis in truth or rumor. If the story isn’t funny it will not be used – humor is paramount. Personal or cruel attacks are not welcome as articles are more about the absurdity of the political related positions and not the individuals. We are aware that this can be a grey area so we will keep an open mind. We are also looking for regular contributors so writers particularly skilled in the political satire arena will receive frequent or ongoing requests. Please be creative!

Audience:
This audience for this article is assumed to be 18 or over. They tend to be educated and enjoy satirical comedy. Foul language can be used, but please don’t be excessive. The use of foul language should only be necessary to help drive home the comedic nature of the article. So - if you are going to use foul language make it count.

Organization:
This article is to be used by a satirical political online publication based in Washington DC called Pardon the Pundit (PTP). PTP is not allied with any political organization and simply aims to make fun of the players who make a mockery of our entire political process including the Executive, Judicial, Legislative, Voter and the Press. Our goal is to make comedic fun of the hypocrisy, absurdity, corruption and self-righteousness that naturally results from our nation’s political discourse.

Credit and role of Editor:
You agree that PTP may publish the article with your name or a pseudonym. Please write in US language. You also agree that PTP as editor may make minor changes to the article in order to resolve errors, spelling, omissions, language, or content problems. Please describe how you would like to be credited for this article (name, link, etc). There will be no fee paid for submissions. While we do have paid writers - we do offer payment for submissions by the general public. However if your articles are creative and funny we may be able to work something out. You never know? Submissions must be original content owned by the person or organization submitting.

The Pardon the Pundit Theater Troupe is an in-house theater company located at the Arlington Drafthouse, deep inside the swampy area that makes up our nations capital. Inside the beltway, the PTP Theater Troupe is able to entertain a live audience with an annual political satire competition and regular showcases.
